Francisco helped France stave off a potential upset

    SZOMBATHELY (Hungary) - Sylvain Francisco was the hero for France to open the second window of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 European Qualifiers in dramatic fashion.

    The in-form guard finished with 10 points and 5 assists with his game-winning triple securing an important 74-71 win on the road against previously unbeaten Hungary.

    Francisco was only 1-of-5 from deep before ensuring there was to be no overtime drama, and puts France in a stronger position in Group H at 2-1.

    The return fixture takes place on Sunday, March 1 when France welcome Hungary in Le Mans.
