    WABC Level 1 coaching courses in Cambodia to build up the bedrock of national team program

    BEIRUT (Lebanon) - The FIBA Regional Office - Asia in coordination with CBF successfully organized a World Association of Basketball Coaches (WABC) Level 1 coaching course in Cambodia.

    BEIRUT (Lebanon) - The FIBA Regional Office - Asia in coordination with Cambodia Basketball Federation (CBF) successfully organized a World Association of Basketball Coaches (WABC) Level 1 coaching course in Cambodia.

    The six-day program (18-23 October) aimed to extend and improve the coaching pool in Cambodia and was conducted by WABC instructor, Mr.Milan Kotarac. 

    Austin Koledoye Abayomi, Secretary General of CBF said“The development of basketball coaches is part of the objective of Cambodia Basketball Federation. Coaches are the bedrock of our basketball program and without coaches we are not going to have good players. It was with great enthusiasm that Cambodia hosted the WABC Level 1.

    "The young coaches will be assign to various Primary and High Schools and CBF will continue to monitor their progress and provide necessary assistance to them and guide them to be National Coaches in the future, Koledoye added.

    The aim of the WABC Level 1 course is to provide pedagogy, practical insight and techniques to participants so they can teach coaches. The course took place in the classroom but also on the court and candidates participated in various group discussions.

    "I was very happy to participate in this coaching clinic," said Sinn Kiri, a participant of the clinic. "We have learned a lot and I will use the knowledge that I gained here to train my students."
