    WABA Champions Cup 2018 relocated to Jordan from Iraq

    BEIRUT (Asia) - West Asian Basketball Association (WABA) officials have announced that the WABA Champions Cup 2018 will be relocated to Jordan from Iraq - with the tournament dates remaining March 12-16.

    BEIRUT (Asia) - West Asian Basketball Association (WABA) officials have announced that the WABA Champions Cup 2018 will be relocated to Jordan from Iraq - with the tournament dates remaining March 12-16.

    The WABA decided to change the hosting country of the 18th edition of the Champions Cup due to security concerns of the players in Baghdad. It was supposed to be the first time Baghdad hosted a major basketball event since 1988.

    The Champions Cup sees the best club teams from all across West Asia face off for regional supremacy. The tournament's defending champions are Al-Riyadi Beirut of Lebanon, which beat Petrochimi of Iran, 83-69, in last year's Final in Amman, Jordan.
