Joaquin Taboada, who just turned 19, showcased his tremendous potential in Uruguay’s victory over Cuba, finishing with 27 points, 3 assists and 2 steals. The forward knocked down 10 of his 14 field-goal attempts, including 3-of-5 from beyond the arc, and posted a game-high efficiency rating of 28 to lead his team.
Francisco Caffaro was Argentina’s top performer in the win over Panama. He narrowly missed a double-double with 15 points (7-of-9 from the field) and 9 rebounds, finishing with an efficiency rating of 20. The center is coming off an MVP performance at the BCL Americas Final Four.
Panama point guard Iverson Molinar also recorded an efficiency rating of 20 after tallying 17 points and 6 assists, but his effort was not enough to lift his team to victory.
Leandro Bolmaro capped off an outstanding window with 13 points, 6 assists and 4 rebounds (19 efficiency), helping power Argentina to another win. The guard made a significant impact after returning to the national team after over a two-year absence.
Finally, Pablo Gomez stood out for Uruguay with a strong performance in the paint. The 23-year-old big man shot 5-for-6 from the field to finish with 11 points, while also contributing 8 rebounds and 2 blocks for an efficiency rating of 19.
