The playmaker role belongs to Yam Madar. The Israeli point guard continued with his fine form from club level, pouring in 31 points, but it was not enough to take down the reigning FIBA EuroBasket and FIBA Basketball World Cup champions.
The other backcourt player among the top five top performers was Croatia's Mario Hezonja, picking up the first ever European Qualifiers triple-double with 11 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds against Cyprus.
The small forward role goes to Mateusz Ponitka. Arguably, he could've been in the hunt for that first ever triple-double, but he was subbed out after just 15 minutes of action, finishing with 18 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists.
Speaking of triple-doubles, Maik-Kalev Kotsar was also close to getting one, logging in 12 points, 12 rebounds and 9 assists as Estonia blew out Slovenia by 31.
Finally, the paint belongs to another Croat. Ivica Zubac went off for 24 points on 10-of-13 shooting from the field, with 11 rebounds and 4 blocks, all done in 18 minutes, to register the largest ever Qualifiers win across all regions, and also tie the largest win by Croatia ever, a mark they set against Iceland in 1992 (+73).
