Last season's Finals MVP, Melwin Pantzar, stepped up once again on the big stage, as he took the keys and led Surne Bilbao Basket to a pivotal 98-81 victory over Falco Vulcano Energia KC Szombathely. The Swedish international had 14 points, 9 assists and 7 rebounds, finishing with an efficiency rating of 25. Pantzar's teammate Margiris Normantas also stood out in Bilbao's win in Hungary. The Lithuanian went for 18 points on 6-for-8 from the field, 6 assists and 2 steals as the holders take a 17-point cushion into the second leg.
Cleveland Melvin was outstanding for PAOK BC as they inflicted a second loss of the FIBA Europe Cup on UCAM Murcia. Melvin had 22 points, including two triples, and 8 rebounds in his side's 79-73 victory. Despite the defeat, UCAM Murcia's Devontae Cacok bagged a double-double, with his performance the catalyst in giving his side hope going into the second leg. Cacok finished with 14 points, 13 rebounds and 2 assists.
Ben Moore matched Cacok with a double-double of his own in PAOK's first leg victory. Moore had 13 points, pulled down 11 rebounds and swatted away a Murcia attempt for a rating of 20 to give the Greek side the advantage going into the second leg.
