VIETNAM (Olympic Solidarity Coaching Clinics) - The last clinic that had been organised in the country was a coaching and administration course in 2002.

From 6th to 15th July 2005, Mr Bill McCammon gave an intermediate level coaching course in front of about 35 participants in Phan Thiet (Binh Thuan Provinve - South of Vietnam).

One can learn through McCammon's report that there are approximately 150 women and 250 men registered players in Vietnam.

There is no professional league in the country.

In terms of infrastructure there are about 50 indoors gym and more than 200 outdoors courts.

McCammon's main tasks were to explain the role of basketball in the educational development of youngsters, to teach the coaches how to plan basketball activities and organising training sessions, explain and build Man to Man and zone defense, work on the current basketball rules and try to implement a coaches association.

As often during those clinics, the book "Basketball for Young Players" had a great success with the participants.

All coaches seem to have learned a lot from the clinic and McCammon's experience in basketball.
