Garcia is returning to coach in Argentina, where he guided numerous outfits dating back to 1990-92 when he worked as the boss of Estudiantes de Bahia Blanca. His last job in the country was as coach of Boca Juniors in 2012-13.
His next position was to lead Venezuela's national team, which he did from 2013 through this summer. In a most famous run with Venezuela, Garcia's side pulled off a stunning title win at the 2015 FIBA Americas Championship and qualified for the Rio de Janeiro Olympics.
During his time in the country, Garcia has also held the reins of Guaros de Lara and led the Venezuelan club to glory in the 2016 Liga de las Americas (FIBA Americas League).
Garcia himself said of his status as head coach of Venezuela: "There is a verbal agreement for me to continue."
The two sides must agree on the economic terms for him to remain at the helm of the national team, which will attempt to build on the momentum of the past few years when it takes part in the FIBA AmeriCup 2017.
