CARACAS (FIBA Americas Championship for Women) - The Venezuelan national team will depart on Monday to Cuiabá where they will play the 2009 FIBA Americas Championship for Women from September 23-27 as they will try and get one of the three available berths for the 2010 FIBA World Championship for Women in the Czech Republic.
The team was completed as forward Cleider Blanco arrived from the United States where he plays in high school. The team departs at 10:45 pm from Simon Bolivar International.
María Ofelia Villarroel, Fanny Díaz, María Cabrices, Sharol Renault, María Requena, Cleider Blanco, Roselis Silva, Yoseimar Díaz, Dayanet Dolande, Yofranny Guerra, Enmy Blanco and Ayaxelis Ilarraza made the final cut. The team is coached by Eduardo Enrique Gil and his assistant is Alecia Landaeta.
Venezuela is in Group B along with Argentina, Chile and Cuba. Group A features Brazil, Canada, Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico.
