CUENCA (South American U17 Championship for Women) - Venezuela have made history by winning their first-ever South American U17 Championship for Women in Ecuador. The Vinotinto went through the competition unbeaten and have now earned a place in next year's FIBA Americas Championship.

The Vinotinto went through the competition unbeaten and have now earned a place in next year's FIBA Americas Championship.
Venezuela's success included a 72-71 win over Argentina on Tuesday, in which Cleider Blanco weighed in with 34 points, and an 84-34 thrashing of Chile in their final game on Wednesday.
Argentina finished runners-up and also advanced to the FIBA Americas Championship.
The ended their competition with a 69-34 victory over Peru on Wednesday, with 17 points from the tournament's leading scorer Debora Gonzalez.
She was also named MVP of the championship.
The final standings saw Venezuela (5-0) finish top, followed by Argentina (4-1), Brazil (3-2), Ecuador (2-3), Chile (1-4) and Peru (0-5).
