VEN - Venezuela announce tournament date
CARACAS (FIBA Americas Championship) - Venezuela have confirmed their participation in a quadrangular tournament in Mexico ahead of the FIBA Americas Championship. The Vinotinto, coached by Nestor Salazar, will take part in the mini warm-up competition against the Mexicans, Uruguay and the US Virgin Islands on August 14 and 15.

The Vinotinto, coached by Nestor Salazar, will take part in the mini warm-up competition against the Mexicans, Uruguay and the US Virgin Islands on August 14 and 15.
The executive director of the Venezuelan Basketball Federation, Gustavo Anselmi, confirmed: "This quadrangular tournament has been agreed with Mexico by written documents.
"Their (Mexico's) federation president, Jorge Toussaint, also invited us to play in a similar competition with the same teams in Phoenix, but we cannot confirm that yet."
Venezuela have also lined up friendlies against New Zealand and Spain, as well as competing in the Stankovic Cup in China alongside Angola, New Zealand, Slovenia, and a team from the Chinese D-League.
The FIBA Americas Championship gets under way on August 22 with the Venezuelans set to face the US Virgin Islands, Canada, Brazil and the United States in Group B.
The championship will offer two berths at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.
