    VEN – Tour in the Old World for Venezuela’s National Team

    CARACAS (FIBA Americas Championship) – A preliminary group of players from Venezuela’s national team (the “Vinotinto”, as they are known all over Latin America), is getting ready for the FIBA Americas Championship 2007 in Las Vegas. As part of that training program, they are scheduled to fly to New Zeland this Friday, in what would the first stop of a series of exhibition games they will be holding in the Old World.

    These are some of the players currently trying to make the team: Héctor «Pepito» Romero, Greivis Vasquez, Carlos Cedeño, Miguel Marriaga, Alejandro «Tapipa» Barrios, José Vargas, Reinaldo Jean Charles, Luis Julio, David Cubillán, Keving Palacios, Hernán Salcedo, Luis Bethelmí, Axiers Sucre, Jesús Urbina y Heberth Bayona.

    Once they finished their stay in New Zeland, they will be flying to China and Spain, for another series of games (a total of 9) wherein they will be facing some local teams as well as the national teams from each of those countries.

    They are scheduled to be back from China and Spain on August 11. Then, on August 20, they will be making their final stop for the summer, Las Vegas.
