    VEN - Salazar, coach of the year

    CARACAS (FIBA Americas Championship) - The head coach of Venezuela's National team, Néstor Salazar, was elected as 2007 Coach of the Year, by the Technical Commission of the Basketball Professional League, after his successful tenure as head coach of the Caracas Cocodrilos. Without Salazar, the Cocodrilos were out of the second round for two consecutive years; as of this writing, their record in the pre-season is 27 - 15.

    "This has been the result of group work; as a result, I am thankful of my personnel (…) we will keep the same game system in this new phase, because of its positive results," said Salazar.

    In regards to his labor as Head Coach of Venezuela's National team, which he lead to the FIBA World Championship 2007 in Japan and that now is trying to renovate its roster, Salazar pointed out that the team will be trying to place itself between the first spots at the FIBA Americas Championship 2007, in Las Vegas.
