MIAMI (NBA) - Miami Heat All-Star guard Dwyane Wade underwent surgery on his dislocated left shoulder and his left patella tendon on Tuesday.

No timetable has been given for Wade's return, but he is unlikely to play for Team USA in this summer's FIBA Americas Championship.

Wade dislocated the shoulder in a February 21 game against the Houston Rockets, but decided to rehab the injury so that he could help Miami try and defend its NBA title.

The Heat were swept in the first round by the Chicago Bulls.

With his quick first step and explosive leaping ability, the 25-year-old Wade is one of the most unstoppable players in the game.

However, his acrobatic style often leaves him susceptible to hard fouls by the defense.

Wade was named to the All-NBA Third Team despite missing 31 games due to injuries. He led the Heat with an average of 27.4 points per game.

Wade averaged 23.5 points and 6.3 assists in Miami's four play-off losses.

Last June, Wade was named the NBA Finals MVP after leading the Heat to their first championship in franchise history.
