MIAMI (Olympics) – China have big fears that talisman Yao Ming may not recover in time from a foot operation to play at the Beijing Olympics and now a knee problem could force Team USA to play without Dwyane Wade.

The Miami Heat superstar on Monday decided with the club that he will take the rest of the NBA season off to work on rehabilitating his surgically repaired left knee.

The MVP of Miami’s 4-2 NBA Finals triumph over the Dallas Mavericks two seasons ago, Wade could do little to prevent one of the biggest collapses ever suffered by a powerhouse team this season.

The Heat saw their record fall to an NBA-worst 11-51 after Monday’s 99-98 home setback against the Los Angeles Clippers.

With no chance of making the play-offs, the Heat and Wade felt it best that he not play for rest of the campaign.

"I'm still committed to the Olympic team," Wade said. "But right now, my focus is on getting healthy."
