DALLAS (NBA) - Jason Terry is aiming to take another run at the NBA Finals after signing a new multi-year contract with the Dallas Mavericks.
Terms were not disclosed, but the versatile guard reportedly signed a six-year contract worth $50 million.
Terry, 28, made $6.66 million last season, the final year of a three-year deal.
He was one of the top free agents in a weak market, but the Mavericks were not about to let him get away after making the NBA Finals for the first time in franchise history last season.
"He was vital to our Finals run and, like all of us, wants to finish what we started," Mavs owner Mark Cuban said.
The 6ft 2in Terry averaged 20.3 points in the NBA Finals, where Dallas won the first two games before losing the next four to the Miami Heat.
Terry was second on the team behind Germany international Dirk Nowitzki in scoring during the regular season, averaging 17.1 points and 3.8 assists while shooting 47% from the field, including 41% from three-point range.
In the playoffs, Terry averaged 18.9 points and 3.8 assists. He had three 30-point games in the post-season after registering just two in the regular season.
The Mavericks acquired Terry along with Alan Henderson from the Atlanta Hawks for Antoine Walker and Tony Delk in August 2004.
The 10th overall pick in the 1999 draft, Terry has career averages of 15.8 points, 5.3 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 1.42 steals in 563 games.
