PALO ALTO (NCAA) - The University of Connecticut had their NCAA record winning streak snapped by Stanford over the Christmas holiday.

After winning 90 games in a row over a three-year period, Geno Auriemma's Huskies fell 71-59 to the Cardinal on December 30.

"I'm not distraught about it," said Auriemma, who guided the United States to a gold medal last year at the FIBA World Championship for Women.

"Winning that many games in a row is unheard of.

"[To lose] it takes a really good team - probably on their home court - to play really well, and for you to struggle.

“When you play good teams on the road and you struggle, you're supposed to get beat."
