BRNO (Czechia) - USA have set a new all-time competition high for assists at the FIBA U17 Women's Basketball World Cup after a devastating display in their Round of 16 clash against Mexico in Brno.
The holders completed a dominant 112-36 victory against their neighbors and handed out an unprecedented 39 dimes. It was four more assists than any other USA team has ever been able to muster.
The new record was also set just 24 hours after fellow title frontrunners Australia had registered a new high of 36 assists in their win against Cote d'Ivoire.
It was Morghan Reckley who led the way as she passed the rock 9 times, falling just one assist shy of equalling USA's all-time individual record at the U17 Worlds.
Meanwhile the USA also tied for 5th place in blocks after swatting 12 shots in the contest as they stormed into the Quarter-Finals.
