DALLAS (NBA) - Dallas Mavericks reserve center D.J. Mbenga has a torn right ACL and is out for the season, the team announced Thursday.

Finishing off a 113-97 win over Memphis on Wednesday, Mbenga left with a right knee strain.

He underwent an MRI on Thursday that revealed the ligament tear.

The 7-foot Mbenga will have surgery in the next two weeks.

There is no timetable for his return.

A native of Congo, Mbenga has played in just 21 games this season, his third in the NBA.

He is an emergency center behind the tandem of Erick Dampier and DeSagana Diop but saw action in last year's NBA Finals, defending Miami Heat superstar center Shaquille O'Neal.
