MIAMI (NBA Europe Live 2010) - The Miami Heat trailed CSKA Moscow at half-time but hit back for a 96-85 triumph in the NBA Europe Live contest on Tuesday night in south Florida.
Looking to avoid the fate that befell the Los Angeles Lakers last week in Spain when they lost 92-88 at Barcelona, the Heat faced a 10-point deficit and were behind 44-39 at the break but Erik Spoelstra’s team went on a 23-4 third-quarter run to go ahead for good.
LeBron James poured in 22 points for the Heat while Trajan Langdon had 20 for CSKA.
"Second half, we just concentrated on doing our jobs, doing what we do, doing it with effort and doing it right, doing it how we've been trying to do it since training camp," said Spoelstra.
"And our focus and commitment was better."
CSKA kept the game close to the end, with a Langdon jump shot reducing the arrears to just five points with 4:15 to go in the contest.
Miami answered with two baskets to take their advantage back to 90-81.
James had to leave the game late in the third quarter with a hamstring injury and likely will not play in New Orleans on Wednesday night.
Langdon, who played at Duke University and also had a stint in the NBA with Cleveland, said it was no surprise that CSKA had done well.
"We've played against NBA teams before," he said.
"We know that this is a very good Heat team. We know that there is a lot of new players here.
"We've been in camp a little bit longer than them so I think our rhythm and playing together, we know what we're doing a little bit more than they do at this time in terms of knowing each other."
