WEST LAFAYETTE (NCAA Women’s) - Purdue are through to the final of the Women’s National Invitational Season Tip-Off after beating North Carolina State 68-38.
Katie Gearlds scored 14 points and the 13th-ranked Boilermakers used a hot-shooting first half to open a big lead which they were never in danger of surrendering.
Purdue shot 52% (14 of 27) from the field in the first half to take a commanding 34-16 lead at the break.
Conversely, North Carolina State connected on just six of 30 shots (20%) in the opening 20 minutes.
In the final, the Boilermakers will play the winner of Thursday’s contest between Baylor and BYU.
Also on Wednesday, eighth-ranked Georgia routed North Carolina A&T 89-35 behind 20 points from Cori Chambers and 20 points and 11 rebounds from Megan Darrah.
Number 11 Arizona State routed Nicholls State 91-46 as Aubree Johnson scored 16 points.
