DALLAS (NBA) - It doesn't take long to go from the penthouse to the outhouse.
Lamar Odom is a testament to that.
An NBA champion with the Los Angeles Lakers and a Team USA co-captain on their world-title winning side in 2010, Odom has been put on the inactive list for the remainder of the season by the Dallas Mavericks.
The veteran, who joined the Mavericks after the NBA Lockout, averaged just 6.6 points, 4.2 rebounds in his 50 games.
"The Mavericks and I have mutually agreed that it's in the best interest of both parties for me to step away from the team," Odom said.
"I'm sorry that things didn't work out better for both of us, but I wish the Mavs' organization, my teammates and Dallas fans nothing but continued success in the defense of their championship."
Odom was a key man for the Americans in Turkey in 2010, averaging 7.1 points and 7.7 rebounds per game.
The 32-year-old was named as a finalist for the USA Olympic team earlier this year.
