    LOS ANGELES (NBA) - A year ago, Blake Griffin was the best player in the American college game at Oklahoma and on his way to becoming the number one pick in the NBA Draft.

    Now the 20-year-old, the top selection by the Los Angeles Clippers last summer, has been told he needs to have surgery on his broken left kneecap and won't play at all this season.

    Griffin, a potential Team USA player in the future, will need four to six months to recover.
