    USA - ND recruit Diggins to train for USA U-19 squad

    Notre Dame recruit Skylar Diggins has accepted an invitation to participate in the USA Under-19 World Championship Team Trials. The South Bend Washington guard will attend the trials May 14-17 in Colorado Springs in hopes of making the 12-player squad for the world championships July 23-Aug. 2 in Bangkok. In all, 27 players were invited to the trials. Carol Owens, a former Notre Dame aide now at Northern Illinois, will coach the team.

    Notre Dame recruit Skylar Diggins has accepted an invitation to participate in the USA Under-19 World Championship Team Trials.

    The South Bend Washington guard will attend the trials May 14-17 in Colorado Springs in hopes of making the 12-player squad for the world championships July 23-Aug. 2 in Bangkok. In all, 27 players were invited to the trials.

    Carol Owens, a former Notre Dame aide now at Northern Illinois, will coach the team.

    Diggins won gold with the 18-and-under national team in the FIBA Americas Championships last year in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She started every game and averaged 10.8 points per game.

    Diggins was named both Gatorade and Naismith national player of the year this past season and was the runaway choice for Indiana's Miss Basketball.
