ANAHEIM (NCAA) - Duke University coach Mike Krzyzewski loves working with NBA players in international competition.
He has no designs, however, on leading them as the coach of an NBA team.
That's what the 64-year-old said at a press conference in Anaheim where his Duke University Blue Devils are preparing for a game in the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16.
Having turned down chances to coach Boston, Portland and the Los Angeles Lakers in the past to remain at Duke, the university he has turned into a powerhouse over the last quarter of a century, Krzyzewski says he has no plans on leaving Durham now.
That's true even if the Lakers come calling when Phil Jackson decides he's had enough as their coach.
"I didn't know I'd have the opportunity to coach internationally again until (USA Basketball chairman) Jerry Colangelo asked me," Krzyzewski said.
"I love that. It's made me a better a coach and it's made me love the NBA even more but I'm good with where I'm at.
"I'm too old to do anything else."
Krzyzewski became the coach of Team USA before the 2006 FIBA World Championship and has worked with many of the NBA's best players.
He coached Lakers star Kobe Bryant at the 2008 Olympics and last year, LA big man Lamar Odom was a Team USA co-captain at the FIBA World Championship.
Krzyzewski and Duke face Arizona in the West Regional on Thursday night.
