PEORIA (High School) - Marcus Jordan has a tough act to follow as a son of arguably the most famous basketball player of all time.

But the 18-year-old's already achieved something that his legendary dad Michael never did.

He’s won a high school title.

Marcus led the Chicago Whitney Young basketball team to the Class 4A Championship on Saturday with a 69-66 triumph over Waukegan.

"I'll always have something up on him," Marcus said, grinning.

Waukegan had fallen behind by 17 points in the second quarter but came back and closed the gap to 55-54 midway through the fourth quarter.

"My cousin told me before the game that Jordans never lose," Marcus said.

Marcus sank four free-throws in the last 26 seconds as he and his teammates held on. He finished with 19 points and five rebounds.

"This feels great," he said. "I knew (Waukegan) would make a run, and I did what I could to hold them off."

Jordan never won a championship at Wilmington Laney High School, but he made up for it by celebrating numerous title wins with the University of North Carolina, the United States Olympic team and the Chicago Bulls.

The proud papa, now a co-owner of the NBA’s Charlotte Bobcats, flew to Illinois from North Carolina to watch his son play.

When a reporter put it to Jordan that he was emotional at the end of the game, he replied: "Crying? I'm not crying - not for me, anyway."

Jordan's other son, Jeff, plays for the University of Illinois and took part in this season's NCAA Tournament.

Marcus is expected to play college basketball next year.
