USA - Marta Fernandez Sparks LA to win over Sun
NEW YORK (WNBA) - Spanish rookie Marta Fernandez had her best game yet for the Los Angeles Sparks on Saturday, scoring 19 points to lead the team to an 88-68 rout of Connecticut. With her brother Rudy - also a Spain international - expected to be a first-round pick in next months’ NBA draft, Marta is doing her bit to make sure that the Fernandez name becomes famous stateside in the years to come.

With her brother Rudy - also a Spain international - expected to be a first-round pick in next month's NBA draft, Marta is doing her bit to make sure that the Fernandez name becomes famous stateside in the years to come.
The 5ft 11in guard added four assists in the win. She is now averaging 8.3 points and 6.5 rebounds per game after making three starts for Los Angeles.
Congolese forward Mwadi Mabika matched Fernandez’s tally of 19 points, adding six rebounds and six assists.
The Sparks also got a big game from Taj McWilliams-Franklin. The center, traded from Connecticut in the off-season, hurt her former team with 15 points and seven rebounds.
The onslaught from those three was too much for Connecticut, who trailed 52-32 by half-time.
Nykesha Sales led Connecticut with 17 points, while Brazilian Erika DeSouza - one of the players involvedin the McWilliams-Franklin deal, had 16 points and nine rebounds.
