USA - Karl Malone, John Stockton, Dream Team have a date for Hall of Fame
Karl Malone, John Stockton and the rest of the original Dream Team can now circle a date on their 2010 calendars and write "Hall of Fame" in the little square. Malone, as an individual player, and the entire 1992 Olympic Dream Team have officially been nominated to be inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame — as was first reported in the Deseret News in November — and will likely be enshrined into hoops immortality in Springfield, Mass., in August.

The Hall of Fame announced that its annual Enshrinement Ceremony will now take place on Aug. 13 rather than in its traditional mid-September date.
Along with Malone and the Dream Team, former Chicago Bulls great Scottie Pippen is expected to be voted in on his first ballot. The late Jim Valvano, a coach whose battle with cancer founded The V Foundation for cancer research, is also a top candidate.
The move to August will avoid a conflict with the 2010 FIBA Men's World Championship that will run from Aug. 28-Sept. 12 in Turkey and will be "a better fit for everyone involved in the enshrinement ceremonies," Hall of Fame board chairman Jerry Colangelo said in a news release.
The Class of 2010 finalists will be revealed during the NBA's All-Star Weekend on Feb. 12 in Dallas. This year's inductees will then be announced during the weekend of the NCAA men's Final Four.
A tribute to the 1992 Dream Team is just one of the many activities the Hall of Fame is planning for enshrinement week. The Hall, which celebrated its 50th anniversary last year with a class that included Stockton, Michael Jordan, Jerry Sloan, David Robinson and C. Vivian Stringer, will introduce new exhibits and host a 3-on-3 tournament, clinics for coaches and fans, and feature appearances by Hall of Famers and other celebrities.
