WASHINGTON (NBA) - This summer for Team USA at the FIBA World Championship in Turkey, American shooting guard Andre Iguodala didn't lose.

Arguably the best defensive player in Mike Krzyzewski's title-winning side, Iguodala helped fire the United States to a gold triumph – their first in the competition since 1994.

Now back in the NBA with the Philadelphia 76ers, Iguodala is finding it hard to win at all.

He returned from a three-game absence because of tendinitis in his right Achilles tendon on Tuesday night and despite putting up big numbers, he and his teammates lost for the 11th time in 14 games.

Even after pouring in 23 points, grabbing 11 rebounds, handing out eight assists and coming up with a steal and a block - Iguodala walked off the court a 116-114 loser at Washington.

Philadelphia’s players and coaches can't believe they lost this one because they led by three in the waning seconds.

Wizards guard John Wall, the number one pick in the NBA Draft this summer, was fouled a full 40 feet from behind the arc by Jrue Holiday and instinctively made sure he was in the shooting motion to earn three free-throws.

Wall sank all three from the stripe to force the extra period and Washington then prevailed to improve to 5-8.

Philadelphia coach Doug Collins said: "You've got to be careful because when a guy is running at you with the ball like that, you've got to know when he sees you coming that he's going to pick up and launch it."

Other results (home team first): Indiana Pacers 100 Cleveland Cavaliers 89; New Jersey Nets 107 Atlanta Hawks 101; New York Knicks 110 Charlotte Bobcats 107; Dallas Mavericks 88 Detroit Pistons 84; LA Lakers 98 Chicago Bulls 94.
