MIAMI (NCAA) - Puerto Rican guard Guillermo Diaz will forgo his senior season at the University of Miami and make himself available for the NBA draft, according to a report in the Miami Herald.
The junior will sign with an agent, making his decision irreversible as he will lose college eligibility.
The Herald report suggests that agent will be Jason Levien, who represents Miami Heat forward Udonis Haslem.
Early projections say Diaz could be a late first round draft pick, or go early in the second.
The 6ft 2in prospect has good athleticism and offensive ability.
Diaz helped the Hurricanes to an 18-16 record this year as they reached the quarter-finals of the National Invitational Tournament (NIT), bowing out in a 71-65 loss to Michigan.
He averaged a team-high 17.3 points during the season and was named to the second-team All-ACC (Atlantic Coast Conference) team. Diaz shot 41.5% from the field and 36.4% on three-pointers and closed the season with 97 assists, 67 turnovers, 39 steals and seven blocks.
