USA - Conradt passes 900 landmark

OKLAHOMA CITY (NCAA) - University of Texas coach Jody Conradt has become only the second coach in NCAA history to pass 900 wins after her Longhorns teams beat Missouri 70-57 in the opening round of the Big 12 Conference women’s tournament.
The win moves Conradt on to a 900-306 record in 38 seasons. Only Tennessee’s Pat Summitt, who has 941 wins going into the NCAA Tournament, has more.
"The last thing on my mind is 900 wins," Conradt said after the game. "I didn't even remember it, because with this team, you have to think about the next possession. That's all you can focus on."
Freshman Earnesia Williams scored 17 points to lead the seventh-seeded Longhorns to victory.
Conradt’s achievement was then relayed over the tannoy system at the Cox Convention Center as Conradt was mobbed by her players.
If nothing else, Conradt said she was pleased the milestone was out of the way with her team now dealing with knock-out competitions.
"I thought for a while, when we were having so much trouble and people kept reminding me of it, I thought, well, everybody is going to try to get 900," she said.
"I don't know how many people are going to try to get 899. That might have been more unique. But obviously this was a big win, because it extended our season, because we keep playing."
