    USA - Coaching great Jackson has hip surgery

    EL SEGUNDO (NBA) - Los Angeles Lakers coach Phil Jackson on Tuesday underwent surgery to replace his left hip, the team announced. Dr Lawrence Dorr performed the the procedure at the Centinela Hospital Medical Center. Jackson, who had his right hip replaced in October 2006, is expected to be released from the hospital within 24 hours.

    Tied with the late Red Auerbach for the most championships won in NBA history at nine, Jackson has a career record of 919-393 in 16 seasons.

    His .700 winning percentage is tops in league history.
