    BANGKOK (FIBA U19 World Championship for Women) - Twice defending champions the United States displayed overall superiority and recorded a run away 88-53 win over China in Group D on Friday.

    The result gave the US, who suffered a shocking defeat at the hands of Spain on Thursday, their first win in this championship. China, with a win over Mali, are now 1-1.

    The Americans, as if piqued by their loss to Spain began the game with authority reeling in the first eight points before Cheng Feng converted two free-throws to open China's scoring.

    The Americans' confidence only grew as the game progressed and consequently the difference between the teams only widened.

    Nnemkadi Ogwumike returned a double-double leading the game in scoring as well as rebounds.

    The Stanford forward scored 18 points and collected 14 rebounds as the Americans dominated the board 54-26.

    Coach Carol Owens gave all her 12 players a feel of the court. Skylar Diggins chipped in with 13 points and six assists. Kelsey Bone had 16 points.

    Zhao Shuang was the highest scorer for China with 12 points.
