SALT LAKE CITY (NBA) - Miami's LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh had big games on Tuesday night but the biggest of all was turned in by the opposing forward, Paul Millsap of the Utah Jazz.
Millsap erupted for a career-high 46 points as the Jazz beat the Heat 116-114 after overtime.
Utah (4-3) trailed by as many as 22 points in the game but Millsap led them back.
He had a scoring burst in the last 28 seconds of regulation that he may never top.
The 25-year-old had 11 points in that short spell of time, including two on an offensive rebound and put-back to send the game to the extra period.
Dutch center Francisco Elson's two free-throws with just 0.4 seconds remaining in overtime then clinched victory for Utah.
"It's speechless, to be down like that to a team like this and to come out with a win," Millsap said.
"We clawed our way out of it. But this says a lot about our team."
It's the second time Utah have pulled off an impressive comeback because they had trailed the Los Angeles Clippers by 18 on Saturday night but ended up winning.
The Heat lost for the third time in eight games this season despite getting 39 points from Wade, 20 points, 11 rebounds and 14 assists from James and 17 points and nine boards from Bosh.
Wade tipped his hat to Millsap, who went into the game as a career 10% (2 for 20) shooter from long range in the NBA.
"The man was on fire," Wade said.
Another team caught fire on Tuesday night in the third quarter.
The Indiana Pacers made their first 20 shots in the frame before Josh McRoberts missed a long ball with just 1.9 seconds to go in the period.
They ended up winning 144-113.
In the third quarter, the Pacers finished with 54 points.
"The dike broke, and the dam broke, and the flood hit us," Denver coach George Karl said.
"We know that happens three or four times a year. Hopefully we can get better and respond against the Lakers on Thursday."
The Los Angeles Lakers remained undefeated with a 99-94 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves.
In winning for the eighth time in as many games, the Lakers got 33 points from Team USA's Kobe Bryant and 18 points and 10 rebounds from Spain's Pau Gasol.
Kevin Love couldn't have done much more for Minnesota.
The Team USA big man who won a gold medal at the FIBA World Championship in Turkey this summer had 23 points and a career-high 24 rebounds.
Minnesota slumped to 1-7 on the season.
"I think this was the best game we've played so far, despite the L at the end of the night," Love said.
"We got up to play the world champs and we went down with a fight. We played a lot better than we have played in the last four or five games."
The New Orleans Hornets are also undefeated after seven games because they thrashed the visiting Los Angeles Clippers, 101-82.
Chris Kaman, who played for Germany at the 2008 Olympics, sprained his left ankle and is now expected to miss up to three weeks.
In other games, Cleveland improved to 4-3 with a 93-91 triumph at New Jersey, Milwaukee hammered visiting New York 107-80 and Portland blew out Detroit, 100-78.
