CHICAGO (NBA) - It hasn't taken long for Argentina's Andres Nocioni to make an impact in America with the Chicago Bulls honouring their second-year forward as their best player in 2005-06.
Nocioni, a former star at Tau Ceramica in Spain who played a vital role for his national side in their gold-medal run at the Athens Olympics, was the only Bull who played in all 82 games in the regular season - 43 as a starter.
"Andres epitomises what the Chicago Bulls represent through his dedication to the game and to his team," said executive vice-president of basketball operations with Chicago, John Paxson, a championship winner and former team-mate of Michael Jordan.
"His positive attitude, relentless effort, passion and hard work are great examples for everyone."
Nocioni's averages this season include 27.3 minutes, 13 points, six rebounds and 1.4 assists.
Nineteen times the 6ft 7in Nocioni led his team in rebounds while on 14 occasions he was tops in points.
Nocioni has been a member of Argentina's national side since 1999, when he helped them win a silver medal at the South American Championship.
He was also part of the silver-medal winning side at the FIBA World Championship played in 2002 in Indianapolis and, barring injury, will be a key figure for the national team later this year in Japan.
