MONTEVIDEO (LUB) - Bigua, Defensor Sporting and Olimpia continued their unbeaten starts to the Uruguayan LUB by claiming two victories each this week.
The trio, who all now have 4-0 records, won their opening two games and repeated the dose a week later.
Bigua hammered Anastasia 98-65 on Friday, thanks largely to the 24 team-high points of center Terry Taylor, before following that up on Tuesday with a 72-70 win against Paysandu.
Martin Osimani netted the winning two-pointer with 21 seconds to go, while Taylor was again influential with 20 points.
Defensor Sporting`s first win this week came on Saturday when they beat Soriano 83-63 at home.
Diego Castrillon top-scored 24 points for Gerardo Jauri’s team, who repeated the victory on Tuesday in an 83-73 win over Anastasia.
Olimpia, meanwhile, defeated Tabare 87-86 away, guard Leonardo Vacca netting 18 points for the winners, before edging Goes 74-68, mainly due to the 18 points of Mauro Torna.
Aguada and Malvin are the closest challengers to the leading three teams, with both sides on 3-1 records.
Reigning champions Trouville were Aguada’s victims on Saturday, Federico Camina’s side winning 83-73 away with 28 points scored by Diego Losada.
Claudio Charquero then poured in 16 points in his side’s next triumph, 73-72 over Union Atletica.
Malvin also beat Trouville, by a score of 96-88, before edging Union Atletica 79-73.
