MONTEVIDEO (Liga Sudamericana) - Flamengo and Libertad Sunchales have booked quarter-final places in the Liga Sudamericana.
Flamengo wrapped up a 3-0 Group B campaign in Uruguay with a 106-83 triumph over hosts Trouville. They led 47-46 at half-time but pulled away after the restart for a decisive victory with Marcelinho Machado the game’s top scorer with 34 points.
Marcelinho is expected to play for Brazil this summer at the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Athens.
Libertad, who lost 89-72 on Tuesday to Flamengo, bounced back with a 130-54 mauling of Millonarios de Bolivia.
The game was effectively over at the end of the first quarter when Libertad led 33-15.
Marcos Saglietti, who was four of seven from three-point range, and Martin Muller each had 29 points to lead the Libertad.
By virtue of their first place finish in the group, Flamengo will have home-court advantage in their quarter-final series.
