URU - Hebraica secure lub spot

MONTEVIDEO (Liga Metropolitana) - Hebraica Macabi have won promotion to the Uruguayan LUB after defeating Cordon in the last round of the Liga Metropolitana's second stage.

After being absent for 10 years, Hebraica will join fellow promoted side Welcome in the upcoming LUB season.

The squad, managed by Edgardo Kogan, thrashed Cordon 83-61 to celebrate their fourth win in five games and claim the last LUB spot.

Demian Alvarez top-scored with 22 points and Marcelo Manicera contributed 19 for the winners.

Elsewhere, the fight for survival remains on hold as the final round of matches was suspended due to humidity and condensation in the stadiums.

Already-relegated Las Bovedas` match was suspended before tip-off, while Stockolmo were beating Olivol Mundial 9-5 after less than four minutes when play was halted.

Both matches are scheduled to be resumed on Friday night.
