MONTEVIDEO (Liga Metropolitana) - Bohemios joined Cordon at the top of the Uruguayan Liga Metropolitana's Second Stage table in the race for one of the three promotion places for the top-flight LUB league.

Two wins this week lifted Ramiro de Leon's team onto 15.5 points, the top 10 First Stage teams carrying half of their points forward to the next phase.

Sebastian Izaguirre, with 23 points and 14 rebounds, led Bohemios to an 83-77 win last Friday, while on Wednesday night they claimed an 86-66 triumph over Yale.

Cordon, meanwhile, were beaten by Tabare 99-95 on Friday, despite the 27-point contribution of Federico Haller, the game's top-scorer.

But they got back to winning ways on Wednesday with a 103-93 triumph over Larre Borges, who are third, level on points with Larranaga.

Last week, Larre Borges defeated Yale 82-69, Jose Fernandez netting 30 points and Sebastian Diaz contributing 22, while Larranaga saw off 25 de Agosto 75-66,
Ignacio Pons pouring in 19 points.

Urunday Universitario had rather different fortunes in the opening round of fixtures in the Second Stage.

They went down to a 96-84 home defeat to Nacional, for whom Fernando Moreira scored 20 points and Juan Manuel Fernandez chipped in with 19, but recovered to beat 25 de Agosto 79-66.

The results leave them fifth on 13 points, 2.5 below the leading duo.

At the wrong end of the table Stockolmo edged Capurro 97-95 and Verdirrojo beat rock-bottom Olivol Mundial 80-67.
