    The vital blows by Leandro García Morales and Co were landed in the second quarter.

    Defensor, trailing 20-11 at the end of the opening frame, reeled off the first six points of the next period but then Bigua went on a 17-4 run.

    They used that great spell as a platform for victory.

    Mauricio Aguiar had a game-high 24 points for Bigua, with García Morales pouring in 20 and Martín Osimani 13 along with 11 assists.

    Chris Jackson and Diego González scored 19 apiece for Defensor, who will try to level the series when it continues on Friday at Cilindro.
