MONTEVIDEO (LUB) - Bigua are perched alone at the top in Uruguay after collecting two more victories in the LUB league.
Leandro Garcia Morales broke the season's points record, scoring 43 as Bigua hammered Soriano 114-95 on Saturday.
Marcelo Signorelli's men then beat Olimpia 96-80 on Tuesday for their ninth triumph in 11 games.
The first stage finishes next Tuesday, with Bigua already qualified for the second stage where the top eight sides will play the Apertura and Clausura tournament champions.
Defensor Sporting are very close to Bigua after a couple of wins saw them improve to 8-2.
David Jackson made six free throws in the last 40 seconds and Federico Alvarez added one more to secure Defensor's 75-70 win over Hebraica Macabi on Saturday.
Jackson ended the game with 18 points while Nathan Mielke contributed 19.
Then on Tuesday, Gerardo Jauri's side saw off Aguada 98-81 to claim their fourth win in a row.
Atenas, reigning champions Malvin, Trouville and recently-promoted Welcome all have a 6-4 record.
Last Friday, Malvin beat Welcome 91-89 with Emilio Taboada scoring 31 points. He then poured in 29 to help his side thrash Union Atletica 95-60.
Argentinian Gonzalo Garcia's debut as Paysandu head coach was not as he would have hoped as his team were beaten 74-63 at Hebraica Macabi.
Garcia works as Sergio Hernandez's assistant for his country's national team and was the main boss in the Pan American Games, but his new team suffered its seventh defeat in 10 games.
In other games played in the last week, Alejandro Gonzalez's Trouville edged Atenas 79-75 with a 24-point explosion from Ignacio Borges, and Atenas defeated Welcome 68-64.
