The USA overcame Chinese Taipei 101-66 to defend the title they won in Belgrade in 2009, with the talented Nnemkadi Ogwumike leading the way with 24 points, nine rebounds and four assists.
Australia overcame Sweden 66-56 to secure bronze.
In the men's tournament, Serbia overcame Canada 68-55. Mladen Jeremic and Vladimir Lucic led the Serbians with 17 and 11 points respectively.
In the bronze medal game, Lithuania narrowly beat Russia (76-74).
The Universiade is an International multi-sport event, organised for university athletes by the International University Sports Federation (FISU). Also referred to in as the World University Games or World Student Games, the event takes place every two years.
The 2011 edition sees 150 countries take part in 20 sports.
