Ub peaking: All we learned from World Tour Dubai 2026

    Short Read

Ub find another gear in Dubai as the race to Rio intensifies.

DUBAI (United Arab Emirates) – Ub (SRB) continued to set the pace on the FIBA 3x3 World Tour 2026, capturing their fourth title of the season with a dramatic 20-19 victory over Baskets Bonn (GER) in the Final of the inaugural World Tour Dubai. With Strahinja Stojacic earning his second MVP award of the campaign, the 14th stop of the season delivered another reminder of Ub's championship credentials while adding a new destination to the global 3x3 basketball calendar.

From Ub's continued dominance to Stojacic's individual brilliance and the growing depth of the field, here are five things we learned from FIBA 3x3 World Tour Dubai 2026.

    Hitting their stride

Never count out Ub. The Serbian powerhouse arrived in Dubai looking to add another title to their 2026 collection, and they once again delivered when it mattered most.

Their path to the championship was not without its challenges, though. Ub suffered a 21-20 pool-stage defeat to upstarts Cibona Ph.Classic (CRO), preventing them from completing a perfect Day 1. But the top seeds responded emphatically in the knockout rounds, defeating Liman (SRB) 22-12 in the Quarter-Finals before edging Amsterdam RABOBANK (NED) 19-17 in a tense Semi-Final.

The championship game against Baskets Bonn proved to be another test of their resilience. Ub raced to an early 8-2 advantage, but the German side continued to fight back, setting up a nail-biting finish. Even after Fabian Giessmann's late dunk brought Bonn within reach, Ub held on for the 20-19 victory.

The triumph marked Ub's fourth World Tour stop win of the season, following their earlier successes in Chengdu, Marseille and Macau. They now stand alone as the season's most successful team, with four titles to their name.

    MVP masterclass

For all of Ub's collective strength, Dubai belonged to Strahinja Stojacic. The Serbian superstar was named MVP after another outstanding all-around performance, earning his second World Tour MVP award of the 2026 season.

Known as "Doctor Strange," Stojacic led the tournament with 28 highlights and 11 key assists. He also finished with 34 points, ranking second overall, while his player value of 55.4 was the second-highest mark in the competition.

Stojacic had already earned MVP honors at World Tour Marseille earlier this year. His latest recognition in Dubai further underlines his status as one of the circuit's defining players and a major reason behind Ub's remarkable consistency.

    World Tour standard

Ub may be setting the standard, but the 2026 season continues to showcase impressive competitive balance. Following 14 World Tour stops, seven different teams have claimed at least one title.

Ub lead the way with four victories, while Baskets Bonn have three. Liman and Amsterdam RABOBANK have each collected two titles, while Miami (USA), Hangzhou Jingwei (CHN) and Antwerp (BEL) have each won once.

That spread of champions reflects the depth of the current World Tour field. Even with established powerhouses collecting multiple trophies, no team can take a tournament for granted.

There are still plenty of contenders looking to join the winners' list. Fuengirola (ESP), Skyliners (GER), Shanghai (CHN), Ulaanbaatar MMC Energy (MGL), DeQing (CHN), Cibona Ph.Classic and Toronto (CAN) are among the teams still chasing their first World Tour stop victory of the year.

With three stops remaining before the FIBA 3x3 Rio de Janeiro World Tour Final 2026, the opportunity for another new champion remains very much alive.

    Dubai's memorable debut

The 2026 edition marked the first time Dubai hosted a FIBA 3x3 World Tour stop, bringing the global circuit to a new destination in the United Arab Emirates.

The inaugural tournament at Festival Bay, Dubai Festival City, combined elite 3x3 basketball with a wider festival experience, featuring music, street culture, fan activities and community engagement. It offered a new platform for the discipline to connect with audiences in one of the region's leading international event destinations.

Dubai's arrival on the calendar is also part of a three-year partnership, securing FIBA 3x3 World Tour events in the emirate through 2028. That commitment gives the city a continuing role on the international 3x3 basketball calendar, with the next two editions offering further opportunities to build on the inaugural tournament.

    Road to Rio

Dubai was the 14th stop of the 2026 FIBA 3x3 World Tour season, leaving just three tournaments before the season-ending World Tour Final in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on December 12–13. These are Zaisan, Manama and Hong Kong.

With seven different champions already crowned and several leading teams still looking for another breakthrough, the remaining stops will carry significant importance. Every result offers an opportunity to strengthen a team's position, build momentum and make a final push toward Rio.

Ub have once again shown why they are the team to beat, but the competitive balance across the circuit means the race is far from settled. The final stretch of the season promises more drama as the world's best professional 3x3 basketball teams continue their pursuit of the ultimate prize.
