Turkey - Squads announced for All-Star game
The squads for the Turkish Stars and Foreign Stars teams, which will clash on Sunday in the 2010 Beko All-Star game, were announced on Tuesday. The game will be played in Kayseri’s Kadir Has Sports Hall, which will also host Group A games of the 2010 World Basketball Championships. Imran Isildar, vice chairman of the Turkish Basketball Federation, or TBF, noted that 2010 will be a very important year for World Championships host Turkey. “The year’s first important event will be held this weekend,” said Isildar. “The federation organizes the All-Star event in a different city every year to reach basketball fans all across the country.”

TBF Secretary-General Ali Özsoy said the event would be a test for the FIBA 2010 host city. “The configuration of the sports hall has been significantly changed,” said Özsoy. “In cooperation with Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality, the capacity of the hall has been increased with the addition of portable stands.”
Özsoy also thanked electronics company Beko for its “major investments in basketball.”
Two teams, the Turkish Stars, consisting of Turkish players and coached by Banvit coach Orhun Ene, and the Foreign Stars, bringing together the best foreign players in the Beko Basketball League and coached by Besiktas Cola Turka coach Burak Biyiktay, will play on Sunday for the Beko All-Star title at 3:30 p.m. A three-point shoot out and slam dunk contest will also be held before the game.
