BARCELONA (2010 FIBA World Championship) - FIBA World Championship hopeful Boniface Ndong of Senegal reminded everyone of his tremendous ability on Thursday night while playing for Regal Barcelona.
The center poured in a game-high 19 points for Barca in an 84-65 demolition of Italian heavyweights Montepaschi Siena in the Euroleague.
Senegal are among the African teams in the running for one of the four wild cards to be handed out by FIBA next month in Istanbul.
Ndong is almost certain to represent Senegal in Turkey next year if they receive one.
Here are some of the notable performances on Wednesday and Thursday from players who could be headed to the FIBA World Championship next year.
Serbia
- Novica Velickovic - One of Serbia's rising stars, Velickovic erupted for 21 points and pulled down seven rebounds in an 82-69 win over Armani Jeans Milano in the Euroleague.
- Kosta Perovic - The Serbia center had 18 points and six rebounds back in his homeland to help Power Electronics Valencia defeat KK Hemofarm in the Eurocup, 75-68.
France
- Nando De Colo - The France point guard poured in a game-high 20 points for Valencia.
Slovenia
- Goran Jagodnik - The Hemofarm forward scored a team-high 17 points in the home defeat to Valencia.
- Bostjan Nachbar - The Efes Pilsen forward led his team with 12 points and two steals in a 77-64 victory over visiting Entente Orleans in the Euroleague.
- Sani Becirovic - The Union Olimpija point guard engineered the fall of his former team Lottomatica Roma with 24 points, six assists, five rebounds and a steal. Olimpija won the game 87-70.
Great Britain
- Joel Freeland - The Unicaja Malaga power forward scored 15 points in a 91-84 home triumph over Lietuvos Rytas. Freeland will play at the FIBA World Championship if Great Britain receive a wild card.
- Luol Deng - The Chicago Bulls forward scored 28 points, grabbed eight rebounds and came up with four steals in his team's 105-86 loss at Utah. Deng will play in Turkey if the Brits get a wild card.
Lithuania
- Ramunas Siskauskas - The CSKA Moscow small forward scored a game-high 24 points in a 71-67 Euroleague victory at Caja Laboral in Spain. Siskauskas, who retired from the national side after the Olympics in China, may be back in the Lithuania squad by popular demand if the country receives a wild card for the FIBA World Championship.
Russia
- Viktor Khryapa - The Russia forward finished with nine points, seven rebounds and five assists in CSKA Moscow's win. Russia need a wild card for Khryapa to play in Turkey next year.
Canada
- Carl English - The Caja Laboral sharpshooter scored 14 points in defeat for Caja Laboral.
Brazil
- Tiago Splitter - The Brazil center had 10 points and eight rebounds in defeat for Caja Laboral.
Greece
- Stratos Perperoglou - The Greece guard had a game-high four steals to go with his 12 points in Panathinaikos' 96-63 thrashing of Ewe Baskets Oldenburg on Wednesday.
- Nick Calathes - The young guard had six assists and four rebounds to go with his five points for the Greens in 18 minutes against Oldenburg.
Team USA
- Dwight Howard - The Orlando Magic center led his team on Thanksgiving Day with 22 points and 17 rebounds in a 93-76 drubbing of the Atlanta Hawks.
- Carlos Boozer - The Utah Jazz big man tore apart Chicago with 28 points, eight rebounds and five assists while also swatting three shots.
- Deron Williams - The Utah playmaker had 21 points, six assists and three steals in the win over the Bulls.
Turkey
- Mehmet Okur - The Utah center scored 14 points in the triumph over Chicago.
