PORTLAND (NIKE Hoop Summit) - If you're good enough, you're old enough.

That could be the case for 17-year-old Enes Kanter when Turkey name their squad for the 2010 FIBA World Championship.

Kanter, a standout performer for his country in youth tournaments who is headed to Kentucky next season to play college basketball, poured in a tournament record 34 points for the World Select team at the Nike Hoop Summit over the weekend but the Americans prevailed, 101-97.

The 6ft 10in Kanter, who is being projected as a lottery pick for 2011 if he makes himself available for the NBA Draft, also had 13 rebounds.

"Thirty-four points and 13 rebounds in 24 minutes, very impressive," World Select coach Rob Beveridge said.

"It's probably one of the best I've seen in a long time."

Germany great Dirk Nowitzki of the Dallas Mavericks had scored the previous record of 33 points when he played in the Nike Hoop Summit back in 1998.

Kanter, who has a 7ft 1in wingspan, said: "I played with my team. I had 34 points because of my team."

The USA have now won the clash 10 times in the last 13 games.
