TUR - Tissot rewards the heroes of the 2010 FIBA World Championship

LE LOCLE/ISTANBUL (FIBA World Championship) - The final of the hugely successful FIBA World Championship 2010 in Turkey was followed by yet another highlight for Official Timekeeper, Tissot. Loud applause continued as Tissot presented special edition watch awards to the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the Championship and the best player in each of the five positions, the All Tournament Team.

Tribute to fairness and performance

This award ceremony symbolizes two central values of the Tissot global partnership with FIBA - fairness and performance. Participating in the voting for the awards was a selected panel of respected, accredited journalists in the arena; the final whistle of the match marked the last moment for casting votes. The results were calculated in the moments following the match to the eager anticipation of the crowd.

Tissot President, Francois Thiébaud, was joined by Turgay Demirel, President of the Turkish Basketball Federation, to present the awards on the court. The MVP winner, Kevin Durant of the USA received an exclusive Tissot T-Touch Expert watch, key to a total of 11 touch-activated functions, including a countdown timer, compass and altitude difference meter. The best tournament player in each respective position (All Star Team) was presented with a special Tissot PRC 200 Autoquartz, each with a special case back celebrating their award.

Highest individual honour of the Championship for Durant

The MVP Award, presented by Tissot, was awarded to Team USA forward Kevin Durant, whose excellent play throughout the tournament saw him honoured as the Championship's Most Valuable Player. Durant's statistics speak for themselves with Durant scoring a total of 177 points in the Championship, averaging 22.1 points per game and shooting 55% from the field. Durant was equally impressive in defense with 6.2 rebounds per game and two assist.
