TUR – FIBA and 2010 LOC conduct World Championship site visit

ISTANBUL (2010 FIBA World Championship) – The delegation comprising of FIBA’s TV and Broadcasting Department and 2010 Local Organizing Committee have conducted a site visit and analysis of the Sinan Erdem Olympic Dome in view of the live TV broadcasts during this summer’s FIBA World Championship.

FIBA Head of Events Predrag Bogoslavljev, 2010 Organization Director Emin Balcı, FIBA Directors responsible for TV Broadcast Paul Stimpson and Stephanie Mignot as well as other representatives of FIBA and the 2010 LOC conducted a thorough analysis of the host venue for the final round, the Sinan Erdem Arena.

The delegation shared their thoughts on the mixed zone, where all members of the media will be able to interview players regardless of exclusive rights, and ensured that the mixed zone was adequate for broadcast interviews. The areas for courtside interviews, which will be conducted by official broadcasters were also checked.

The appropriate locations for the cameras and their exact positions were determined, with the technical equipment needed for the cameras and broadcasting has also being revised.

The delegation made the selection of the camera locations very carefully to ensure optimum angles while not blocking the view of the basketball fans, and decided to raise the position of some cameras with extra platforms.

Afterwards, the delegation conducted a visit of the arena’s outside and surroundings. The places where the live broadcasting cars will be parked was considered and the issue of cabling discussed.

At the end of these controls, the delegation fully reviewed all the issues in an evaluation meeting.

FIBA and the 2010 LOC delegation pursued their site visit in Ankara Arena on Tuesday and will move on to Izmir’s Halkapınar Arena on Wednesday. After examining the Kayseri Arena on Friday, the delegation will return to Istanbul and finish their tour with a visit of the Abdi İpekçi Arena.
