    Tunisia - Heavy training program awaits Tunisian national basketball team

    As part of its preparation for the 2010 World Basketball Championship which took will take place in four Turkish cities respectively Ankara, Kayseri, Istanbul and Izmir, the Tunisian basketball team that qualified for the first time in its history for the senior world championship, will play 20 warm-up matches. The warm up program was presented on Thursday at a press briefing held by Mr. Ali Benzarti, President of the Basketball Federation, and Mr. Adel Tlatli, the national team’s coach.

    As part of its preparation for the 2010 World Basketball Championship which took will take place in four Turkish cities respectively Ankara, Kayseri, Istanbul and Izmir, the Tunisian basketball team that qualified for the first time in its history for the senior world championship, will play 20 warm-up matches.

    The warm up program was presented on Thursday at a press briefing held by Mr. Ali Benzarti, President of the Basketball Federation, and Mr. Adel Tlatli, the national team’s coach.

    On this occasion, Mr. Ali Benzarti said that this program takes into consideration the level of the other qualified teams.

    For his part, the national coach said that “after the preparatory warm ups since November in Tunis and Sousse, followed by trainings in Turkey which has just ended, 60 days of hard work remain”, he remarked.

    After training in Turkey, , the national team will train in June and July in “Ain Draham” and Tunis. From July 14 to 19, 2010 the team will travel to France to compete against teams from Belgium, the Cote d’Ivoire and Finland in a Summer League Tournament.

    From July 21 to 31, a training section is to be held in the U.S, where 6 to 7 games are scheduled. Back in Tunis, two friendly matches are programmed against the Serbian team. Later the national team is expected to travel to France where it will play from August 5 to 12, in a friendly against the French basketball team and two other French teams.

    The preparations of the national team will continue with a final training camp from 15 to 18 August in Tunis .

    Tunisia will play in Group B alongside the US, Slovenia, Brazil, Croatia and Iran.
