ISTANBUL (EuroBasket Women 2015) - A trio of players will step out at a major tournament for the first time at senior level when Turkey tip off their Eurobasket Women 2015 campaign in Oradea, Hungary.
Head coach Ekrem Memnun has opted to hand debuts to Pinar Demirok, Ayse Cora and Olcay Cakir, who will all suit up in Romania.
Demirok has impressed at Agu Spor Kulubu, while Cakir and Cora have both built on impressive youth careers and have now done enough to suggest they can make the transition to the elite level.
Cakir has continued her development with Fenerbahce, while Cora opted to move from Galatasaray to get more minutes with Edirnespor and is a gamble that has paid dividends.
Memnun has also kept faith with rising star duo Tilbe Senyurek and Cansu Koksal, who were both given their first opportunity at the FIBA Women's World Championship last year.
It makes for something of a new page being turned by Turkey, but that process is set alongside a familiar veteran core of players who will be led by the long-serving and legendary Nevriye Yilmaz.
She will operate alongside the naturalised Lara Sanders, who made a big impact last summer on her first outing for her adopted country.
The backcourt will be fuelled by Birsel Vardarli Demirmen and also Isil Alben, who has reportedly inked a three-year deal to return to home Istanbul and suit up for Galatasaray again.
The player who suffered the agony of missing the final cut was Esra Ural.
